( Prompt D ) The quote "I defy you stars" means that Romeo is still hoping to see Juliet. He knows that destiny is gonna bring them back together and if there was they were gonna live it happily. But when he heard the news that Juliet is dead he went in the chapel and drank the poison, to think that they are still lovers till eternity. But Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo lying in the ground not breathing, so she grabbed his knife and stabs herself.

To answer your first question, I think Romeo killed himself because he is rash and thinks that Juliet is his one and only true love. He doesn't want to live without her. However, I think this reason for killing himself is stupid and selfish. He doesn't think about his family or anyone else, and only cares about what he feels. Anyways, he probably would have fallen in love again.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your second question, I don't think Juliet had any power over when she could wake up. I believe that the potion the friar gave her was too strong for her to be able to override and try to wake up because she wanted to. I feel that if she had the power to wake up in time to stop Romeo from killing himself.
