Act 3 Scenes 1-2: Exiled

Prompt A) Mercutio, Benvolio, and others are hanging around Verona when Tybalt comes looking for Romeo. When Romeo enters, Tybalt wants to fight, but Romeo doesn't want to and tries to reassure Tybalt that he doesn't want any trouble. Mercutio attacks Tybalt on behalf of Romeo, gets wounded, and soon dies. Romeo seeks revenge and kills Tybalt, but is banished by the Prince of Verona. Scene 2 begins with Juliet waiting for Romeo on her balcony. The nurse enters her room and tells Juliet about how Romeo killed Tybalt and was banished. Juliet is shocked and the nurse offers to bring Romeo to her since the nurse knows he is hiding out with Friar Lawrence. Juliet then gives the nurse a ring to give to Romeo.

Prompt D) In scene 2, after Juliet finds out that Romeo has been banished, the nurse offers to bring Romeo to her. The nurse says, "Hark ye, your Romeo will be here at night. I'll to him; he is hid at Lawrence's cell." Juliet responds, "Oh find him, give this ring to my true knight. And bid him come to take his last farewell." I really like this scene because it makes me really want to know what happens in the next scene. It is a clincher sentence. We are at a very intense part of the story and what will happen next is a mystery. These last few sentences of scene 2 leave me wanting more.

  1. I like the sentence you chose for prompt d. I agree that it's a clincher sentence. Romeo is banished from Verona but he is hiding somewhere, and either something bad happens or Romeo receives the ring Juliet gives him. Good choice for the quote since I would like to know what happens next.
